Kansas City Specialties

Every state or country generally has some sort of cuisine that they are known for. Maine has delicious seafood, Hawaii has some of the freshest fish, and Kansas City has the best barbecue hands down. Nothing can compare. Kansas City style barbecue is rubbed with spices, slow-smoked over a variety of woods and served with a thick tomato-based barbecue sauce. There’s a slew of different barbecue joints all over the Kansas City metro, in both Kansas and Missouri. Even with 90+ options, everyone seems to have a favorite, or at least a preference. The dealbreaker elements tend to be the quality and variety of meat, types of sides, different sauce options, and price.

Although KC is mostly known for barbecue, the craft beer industry has taken off quite well here, too. With a number of different breweries, any tap room or bar is going to have a few local staples (Boulevard Wheat, Martin City Blonde, etc.) but some have more new and exotic styles, like sours, barrel-aged, and milk stouts to name a few.
